Incorta Nexus Responses Security and Best Practices

A verified business view provides a trusted and well-defined context that Nexus uses to enhance response accuracy, enforce security, and improve overall data interpretation. Once a verified business view is enabled for Nexus and used as the context for an Incorta Nexus Chat session, the following Nexus functionalities leverage the view's guaranteed structure and security:

Row-level Security

  • Integrates seamlessly with Incorta's Direct Data Mapping (DDM), enforcing robust access control, including row-level security.

  • Security defined within the view is automatically enforced, ensuring users only see data they are authorized to access.

Classification

  • Understands the semantic role of data elements (for example, measures, dimensions, and other elements) within the business view.

  • Generates accurate queries, translating natural language questions into valid SQL based on the defined context and descriptions.

Reference Questions

  • Supports adding a curated set of business questions paired with verified answers.

  • When a business user asks a similar question, Nexus provides these vetted answers, indicated by a "Verified Data Query" badge, ensuring trust and reliability. Refer to Incorta Nexus Reference Questions for more information.

Metadata Tuning

  • Assesses the quality of the metadata in business views.

  • Provides recommendations, such as improved column names or more descriptive explanations for the data. Refer to Incorta Nexus Business View Metadata Assistant for more information.

Best Practices

  • Scope and Limit: Focus views on a single domain and strictly limit the number of columns to under 50 for maximum clarity.

  • Ensure column meaningfulness: Use highly descriptive column names (for example, "Shipment_Date" instead of “Date”) and provide detailed descriptions to explain context and industry jargon. Consider using the Incorta Nexus Business View Metadata Assistant.

  • Optimize for AI: Embed pre-calculated values and list valid string formats (for example, genders as "M/F") in column descriptions to prevent data misinterpretation by Nexus.

  • Validate and Iterate: Ensure technical compliance (for example, avoid using presentation variables) and test the view with users to establish a continuous feedback loop for refinement.
