Release Model
This document outlines how Incorta releases its platform, the release frequency, and the types of releases. In this release model, there are two main release statuses:
Preview
The Preview status indicates an initial release that contains new features and functionality. A Preview release is suitable only for a standalone or cluster development environment; it is not suitable for user acceptance testing (UAT) or production environments.
Important
Support for a Preview release ends immediately once the corresponding GA or LTS version becomes available.
Incorta Support cannot provide support for a Preview release in a production environment.
Incorta offers a Preview release for specific customers and partners who agree to the following in their development environment:
- Upgrade from a previous Generally Available release to the Preview release.
- Perform testing of new features and functionality with a subset or copy of their development, user acceptance testing (UAT), or production physical schemas, business schemas, and dashboards that include loading data.
- Work with Incorta to identify and report any issues.
- If applicable, apply any software patches.
- If applicable, upgrade to any maintenance packs.
- When applicable, upgrade from the Preview Release to a Generally Available release.
- To address and resolve any identified issues, Incorta may share additional special software patches.
The following table characterizes additional attributes of a Preview release:
| Description | Notes |
|---|---|
| Availability | Incorta works with specific customers and partners who agree to the terms of the Preview release program. |
| Production Ready | A Preview release cannot be used for a production environment. |
| Recommended Environment | The recommended environment is a sandbox or a development environment. |
| Service Pack | Incorta may issue a special patch to address a specific issue for a Preview release. |
| Incorta Support | Service Level Agreements for Incorta Support do not apply to a Preview release. Incorta Support will investigate specific issues based on prioritizations from various internal teams. |
| Release Notes | Release notes are not available for a Preview Release. |
| Documentation | Documentation for new features and functionality is not available for a Preview Release. |
| Upgrade Readiness | Not required. The Recommended Environment is a sandbox or development environment. For this reason, achieving Upgrade Readiness is not required, but it is strongly recommended. |
Generally Available
A Generally Available (GA) status indicates that the release is available to all customers and partners. You can contact Global Support directly for a download link for the Generally Available release.
Incorta introduces different GA releases, including:
- Standard Generally Available (GA): A tested, production-ready release, typically introducing new features
- Long-Term Support (LTS): The first GA release in the year, usually January's GA, with extended support life for customers with long upgrade cycles.
- Service Pack (SP): A release on top of a supported release family, introducing bug and security fixes only
