About Data Catalog Manager
The Data Catalog Manager provides a centralized inventory of data assets, including data sources, schemas, tables, views, columns, dashboards, and business notebooks. It enables users to efficiently discover, understand, and manage data through automated metadata scanning, domain and glossary term management, tagging, and asset documentation. These features help maintain data accuracy, quality, compliance, and usability.
Business Notebooks assets are available starting 2025.7.1
Data Catalog Manager Access Permissions
- Users with the SuperRole or Data Governor role can create and manage the Data Catalog, including domains, glossary terms, tags, documentation, and assignments of data assets.
- Users with the Data Catalog User role can view the Data Catalog, explore the data assets, and manage only those assets to which they have edit access. This role can also request access to assets they don’t have Edit access to.
→ To access the Data Studio Manager, in the Navigation bar, select Data Catalog.
Prerequisite Configuration
To use the Data Catalog, only an Admin can toggle on Enable Data Catalog in the Cluster Management Console (CMC) under Default Tenant Configurations → Incorta Labs.
Data Catalog Manager Anatomy
The Data Catalog Manager consists of the following:
Action bar
Located at the top of the Data Catalog Manager interface, it includes the following features:
+ New Menu
Select + New to open the Add New menu. The available options are:
- Domains
- Glossary Terms
- Tags
- Import
Search bar
A search field to quickly find specific data assets, domains, or glossary terms. Refer to Data Catalog Exploration → Search bar for more information.
Configure Classification
Select Configure Classification to open the Classification dialog, which contains a table listing the default classification levels and actions:
- Privacy Level – Shows the classification level identifier, such as Classification - 1, Classification - 2.
- Class Name – Displays the label of the classification: Restricted, Confidential, Private, and Public.
- Description – Explains the type of data covered by this classification and any protection or visibility requirements.
- Data Visibility – Indicates who can view data with this classification, such as ‘None’ or ‘All’.
- Actions – Includes icons for editing or deleting a classification that appear when hovering over a classification level.
- Add Classification – Allows users to add a new classification level by selecting its button at the bottom of the dialog.
- Refer to Configure Classfication Levels for more information.
- The Add Classification and Delete Classification options are available starting 2026.1.0.
- Data masking is currently not applied in SQLi. Refer to Known Limitations for more information.
Catalog list
Located in the central area of the Data Catalog Manager interface, it includes the following features:
Starting 2025.7.1, the Data Catalog displays asset counts per definition.
Data Assets
This section displays the data asset types. Each tile represents an asset type and includes the asset’s icon, name, and number of items available within the asset. You can select a specific asset type to open its Explore page or select Explore All in the top-right corner of the Data Assets section to explore all assets.
Explore All
The Explore page provides a unified, searchable, and filterable view of all data assets available in the Data Catalog. It is composed of the following:
- Filter bar – A horizontal filter toolbar that allows narrowing down the asset list and applying multiple filters simultaneously.
- Assets List – A list of all assets matching the current filters.
- Search bar – Allows users to search across data assets, domains, and glossary terms.
- Requests – Allows users to view their submitted access requests.
- Items count – Displays the number of assets currently visible.
- Refresh icon – Reloads the page by selecting the Refresh icon.
- More Options (⋮) – Displays a menu with import and export options.
Filter bar
Available filters include:

| Type | Allows filtering by asset type, such as Schema, Dashboard, Column, Business Schema, and other data assets. |
| Domain | Filters assets by assigned domain |
| Owner | Filters assets by owner |
| Tag | Filters assets by applied tags |
In addition, the following contextual filters appear only when specific asset types are selected in the Type filter:

Starting 2026.1.0, Data Catalog Users can filter tables and views by Term.
Assets List
Each asset entry generally includes:

| Asset name and link | Opens the asset page, including Related, Documentation, and Reviews tabs (tab names vary by asset type) |
| Asset icon | Indicates the asset type |
| Owner initials | Displays the initials of the asset creator |
| Asset type and path | Shows the asset type and its location |
| Lineage | Opens the lineage view for the asset |
| Metadata labels | Labels referring to the set domain, glossary term, or tag. |
Domains
This section displays the data domains, which group related data assets. Domains are specific categories of data that are critical to an organization’s operations. The Domains section displays the top 5 domains with the most assigned assets. You can create a new domain by selecting + Domain, and view all domains by selecting View All in the top-right corner of the Domains section.
View All Domains
The Domains page provides a list of all domains available in the Data Catalog. It is composed of the following:

| Select | Allows selection of multiple domains. When one or more domains are selected, the Bulk Delete option appears. |
Glossary Terms
This section displays the business terms, which help you navigate through the entire data ecosystem within your organization. The Glossary Terms section displays the top 5 business terms with the most assigned assets. You can create a new business term by selecting + Term, and view all business terms by selecting View All in the top-right corner of the Glossary Terms section.
View All Glossary Terms
The Glossary Terms page provides a list of all business terms available in the Data Catalog. It is composed of the following:

Top Tags
This section displays the tags, which label your data assets and sources to retrieve later when browsing or searching. The Top Tags section displays the top 5 tags with the most assigned assets. You can create a new tag by selecting + Tag, and view all tags by selecting View All in the top-right corner of the Top Tags section.
View All Top Tags
The Top Tags page provides a list of all tags available in the Data Catalog. It is composed of the following:
