Incorta Nexus Metadata Tune
Metadata Tune is an intelligent metadata generation feature within Incorta Nexus that helps improve the metadata of Business Views. It analyzes existing metadata and the underlying data to generate meaningful descriptions and other metadata that help analytics users understand the context and meaning of data.
When you use Metadata Tune, the system generates descriptions for the Business View and its columns, and checks the data type and format of each column by analyzing:
- Existing descriptions provided by users for Business View columns.
- The structure and naming of the underlying data.
- Patterns across your Business View.
- Samples of the data.

Generate metadata
- Open Nexus Chat and select the target Business Schema and Business View.
- Select Set Context.
- Run the following command:
/metadata-tune
- Nexus processes the Business View and generates metadata. Depending on the number of columns, processing may take a few minutes.
- Optional: Provide additional instructions after the command to guide how Nexus generates the metadata. For example:
/metadata-tune ensure all column descriptions follow concise, business-friendly terminology.
The generated metadata is cached and can be accessed by running /metadata-tune again, provided the Business View has not changed. If the Business View changes, Nexus reassesses the metadata.
