What is Incorta?

Incorta is the only Direct Data Platform™ that provides a true self-service data analytics experience. It bypasses lengthy data modeling projects through consolidation of data pipeline, science, enrichment and analytics tools, and delivers self-service analytics in the cloud or on-premises in days, not weeks or months. Data from a variety of sources including applications, databases, streams, and files are easily brought together, processed, and delivered to users. Incorta gives users fast query performance by leveraging Direct Data Mapping with an in-memory, columnar analytics engine that is fast, memory efficient, and easy to operate.

Data Sources

How does Incorta support native connectivity to cloud and on-premises enterprise applications?

Incorta has a series of pre-built connectors for business data sources. The available connectors are listed below. In addition, because Incorta allows for custom JDBC drivers and custom connectors in the platform, the ability to support customer data sources goes beyond what is available in the application. Refer to the Connectors concept for more details on how to connect to the data sources below.

What types of data files does Incorta support?

Incorta supports the following structured data files:

  • Tab Separated Value file(.tsv, .tab)
  • Comma Separated Value file (.csv)
  • Microsoft Excel file (.xsl, xslx)
  • Custom delimited file (.txt)
  • Compressed file format (.zip, .gzip)

Refer to the Data Manager document for more information on the structured data files supported by Incorta.

Schemas

Are the entity relationships automatically created in Incorta?

The Schema Wizard has an option to automatically replicate the relationships already defined by foreign and primary keys within a data source, and defines these as child-to-parent relationships in Incorta. Relationships between disparate data sources and files can be defined by the user. Refer to the Schema Wizard document for more information on creating relationships automatically in Incorta.

Is it possible to change the entity relationships automatically created by Incorta?

The entity relationships automatically created by Incorta can be viewed prior to data load and direct data map creation. The user has the ability to override, remove, or create additional relationships prior to or after the data load process.

Does Incorta support the join of multiple data sources?

The Schema Designer allows a user to define joins between multiple data sources. These joins may be between various data source types. For example, a join may be defined between a relational database and a file.

What types of joins does Incorta support?

The left outer join is the default join type in a Schema for Incorta. Options for performing full outer joins, inner joins, and right outer joins are:

  • Simulating other join types by creating insights in a dashboard
  • Modifying the SQL Join in the Schema Designer

What options does Incorta have for loading data?

There are several options for loading data. Data can be loaded for a given schema or for a given table.

For a schema load, data can be loaded on demand or scheduled.

For loading on a schema on demand, there are three options:

  • Full
  • Incremental
  • Staging

For a table load, data can only be loaded on demand with two options:

  • Load table (Full)
  • Load from Staging

What is the best practice for managing the initial and historical data load?

Incorta supports full and incremental loading from source systems. The most typical scenario involves an initial large, full load of the source system followed by regularly scheduled, incremental loads to keep the data stored in Incorta current.
